Gold mining and processing is a complex procedure that begins with exploration to identify promising areas rich in gold deposits. Once a site is selected, mining can take place through various methods such as open-pit mining or underground mining, where ore containing gold is extracted. This ore is then crushed and ground into finer particles to liberate gold. The gold is separated from the waste material using techniques such as gravity separation, flotation, or cyanidation, which involves dissolving gold in a cyanide solution. After extraction, the gold is further refined to remove impurities through processes like electrolysis or the Miller process. Finally, the pure gold is cast into bars or coins, making it ready for sale in the market.
